Questions

  • TRF became a team August 2024, by a former pupil of Turriff Academy. With most the team being seniors, and moving onto higher education, the team has changed a lot.

  • TRF’s name is an abbreviation of the town that TRF is based in (Turriff). The logo was designed by the Graphic Designer, Abigail Murison. The logo is based on the team mascot, a highland cow.

  • The mascot is a highland cow as it is meant to represent the Turra Coo which is local attraction in Turriff. The Turra Coo is a cow which lived near Turriff, the cow was taken off of a farmer (Paterson) who refused to stamp the insurance cards of his employees and was fined. When the sheriff’s officers came to collect the fine, they seized Paterson’s only movable property: his white milk cow. The cow was taken to Turriff and tied in the village square, decorated with ribbons and painted with the slogan “Lendrum to Leeks” in reference to Lloyd George’s Welsh origin. The auction drew a large crowd and when the cow was put up for sale, a near-riot ensured. The crowd pelted the sheriff officers with rotten fruit and soot, and the cow escaped. She was later found in a nearby barn and eventually sold to a farmer in Aberdeen. The local community railed together to buy back the cow and presented her to Paterson. The cow lived out the rest of her days on the farm and was buried in a corner of the farmland.
